Bill Murray on Ghostbusters 3

New York Entertainment Magazine met up with Bill Murray at the premiere of the Fantastic Mr. Fox. Bill Murray provides his voice for Clive Badget, Mr. Fox’s lawyer and adviser. While talking with Murray about his role in the movie, some Ghostbusters 3 questions came up:

I heard you weren’t happy with plans for Ghostbusters 3.
I haven’t seen the script, so it’s not a matter of being happy or not.

Do you want to do the movie?
I don’t know. It’s all about the script. If the script’s not good, I’m not going to get excited. They’ve been talking about it for a long time. So, you know, I don’t get all excited about it, you know.

Dan Aykroyd told me it’s going to be two guys and two girls.
That sounds like a weekend, but I don’t know if it’s a movie.

What age do you think the new Ghostbusters should be?
Oh, I don’t know. I don’t know what they’re talking about. It’s just talk. No one’s sent me a script. I haven’t seen anything. [Dan Aykroyd] is more out there. He’s a much more active guy than I am. I’m sluggish.

You don’t want to do it?
I mean, I like those guys. But it’s all about if the stuff is good. The stuff’s got to be great.

‘Planet Hulk’ coming to DVD & Blu-ray February 2, 2009

 Planet_Hulk_DVD_Cover

Lionsgate Home Entertainment has announce the release of Marvel’s next feature-length animated movie, Planet Hulk. The single-disc and two-disc DVD and two-disc Blu-ray will be hitting store on February 2, 2010!

Unfortunately, I haven’t checked out much in the way of the Marvel animated movies that have come to DVD. As much of a Marvel comics fan as I am, I tend to enjoy the DC animated features quite a bit more. So while I make it a point to check out the DC/WB straight-to-DVD animated features, the Marvel ones tend to fall by the wayside. That said however, I have read the Planet Hulk comic series that this is based off of, and if it stays close to the source material, I’d imaging this will be well worth a viewing.

A WHOLE NEW WORLD OF HURT! He was a monster, impossible to control, too dangerous to ignore. So Earth’s mightiest heroes exiled him into outer space. But now THE INCREDIBLE HULK crash lands on the distant planet SAKAAR, ruled by the tyrannical RED KING. Sold into slavery, Hulk becomes the planet’s mightiest gladiator – but his new masters get more than they bargained for when he forges a bond of brotherhood with his fellow fighters: crafty insectoid Miek, ruthless rock-man Korg, ex-shadow priest Hiroim, and the noble-born rebel Elloe. Unlike Earth, the desperate people of Sakaar believe a monster is just what they need. But will the Hulk be the one to save their world…or destroy it?

Special Features are to Include:

Single-Disc DVD:

  • Commentary by Supervising Producer Joshua Fine and Screenwriter Greg Johnson

TRAILER: ‘Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths’

Coming to DVD this spring from DC and Warner Bros. is yet another feature-length animated adventure. ‘Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths’ is actually an original script from award-winning animation/comics writer Dwayne McDuffie (“Justice League”).  Bruce Timm is of course executive producing. Lauren Montgomery and Sam Liu are co-directing.

In Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, a “good” Lex Luthor (Chris Noth) arrives from an alternate universe to recruit the Justice League to help save his Earth from the Crime Syndicate, a gang of villainous characters with virtually identical super powers to the Justice League. What ensues is the ultimate battle of good versus evil in a war that threatens both planets and, through a diabolical plan launched by Owlman (James Woods), puts the balance of all existence in peril.

Mark Harmon voices Superman, William Baldwin is Batman, Gina Torres plays Super Woman and Bruce Davison voices the President.

For all of you out there that picked up Superman/Batman Public Enemies on DVD you were privy to a sneak peak of this next Animated movie from Warner Bros!

TRAILER: Clash of the Titans

'Clash of the Titans' Teaser Trailer @ Yahoo! Video

I have to say, I’m terribly excited for this movie, despite this God-awful trailer. I don’t know about anyone else, but I think this trailer looks over the top and stupid, but I still want to see the movie. It looks like they pumped a 13 year old full of testosterone and the ghost of Zack Snyder and told him to do likewise. I don’t understand this style of trailer cutting and I don’t like it.

There is way more to sell in this movie than sizzle, I’m sure of it.

And if there isn’t, I’m very afraid.

Spider-Man 4 Female Lead Casting

We all know Maguire, Dunst and Dylan Baker are returning for Spider-Man 4. But what about the new cast member? Mania.com is reporting a casting call for Felicia Hardy (aka Black Cat). Supposedly Rachel McAdams is the front runner for the roll.

We can exclusively reveal that actress Rachel McAdams has met with the producers of the film for a major role. McAdams (of ‘Wedding Crashers’ and ‘Sherlock Holmes’ fame) is said to be a top contender for the role of Felicia Hardy, known to comic fans as The Black Cat.

Some of us BSR bots have talked about our theories for Spider-Man 4, even as recently as the BSR Podcast. I’m not sure if Rachel McAdams is as flirty and “sexually charged” as Black Cat in the comics. I could be wrong, Raimi is usually pretty great on casting his actors.

REVIEW: Bruno DVD

 bruno_sacha_baron_cohen

Sacha Baron Cohen’s new film “Bruno” gets its release November 17th, and I was lucky enough to get an early copy.

Bruno is a comedy that comes from under the shadow of Borat and the Ali G show. Where Sacha Baron Cohen dresses and acts like an Austrian homosexual, then proceeds to go around the country exposing people for being ignorant. Whereas Borat’s focus seemed to be racism. This one is more about homophobes, although that doesn’t completely apply because with the various scenes, there are many different types of outrage. From negligent parents to the truth behind celebrity charity’s.

If you are worried about being offended, just don’t watch the movie. Everything that you can imagine being in an “R” rated movie is in it. Sex, curse words, penis’, midgets, and boobs. They were barely able to slip by without an NC-17.

I didn’t find this to be as laugh out loud funny as Borat, but they definitely pushed the same buttons. Maybe it’s just that I was prepared for what was going to happen. Another thought is that maybe they were just trying to go too far with some of the jokes. Not that I was overly offended, but maybe I felt that some of the places they went, didn’t add anything to the film, it felt too much like a fart joke. I mean, I actually like these movies, but they really aren’t anything but glorified candid camera bits, done with a slightly more cunning method.

I think this movie did a worse job than Borat at being a narrative. And by that I mean that Bruno didn’t seem to be as consistent a character traveling through a story that could easily suspend my disbelief. To me this is because the extra celebrity appearances. It’s not that the celebrity appearances don’t work, it’s that they only feel like the hidden camera video’s that they are. But overall I thought the movie was good. Especially just at showing what people will do if put into odd situations. Some of the reactions are truly shocking. Everyone I watched it with stayed after the movie, and we talked about what was real, and what wasn’t for almost an hour.

Although it’s hard to say if they are trying to make more of a statement, or if they are just out to get people to laugh. In either case I would only recommend it to the people that are out to get a laugh. Because while I see the messages in there, I can’t see anyone that’s willing to watch it doing any real self reflecting.

On a very short digression, I just want to mention that I think Sacha Baron Cohen must have a lot of acting talent, and it comes through in how different his characters are. And not just in his hidden camera roles, I thought he was great in Sweeny Todd as well.

The bonus features kept me busy for another three hours, as I found myself interested in how these movies were made. And in the commentary with Larry Charles (the director) and, Sacha Baron Cohen, they go into some of the details that turn out to be as interesting as the movie itself. It was especially interesting to find out how close Sascha Baron Cohen came to getting himself killed. He really did some stupid stuff. (The most mild of which was when a porn star broke his thumb.)

They also have a deleted, and alternative scene reel, as would be expected with a project like this. Some of the stuff that they didn’t use, was easily as good as the stuff they put into the film. There was about an hour to watch of these alternative scenes, but they obviously only showed the cream of the crop, because some of the scenes they talked about being cut in the commentary were nowhere to be found on the disc.

To sum it all up, if you are looking for a movie that tells a great story, do yourself a favor and rent “It’s A Wonderful Life.” But if you’re looking for a movie that exhibits the ignorance of everyone from celebrity’s to red-necks, and you want to laugh while doing so, then check out Bruno.

I give the movie a 7 out of ten laser-tazers!

And I give the DVD 10 out of 10 laser-tazers! *Because I so rarely enjoy watching bonus features.

Kick-Ass Gets a Wesbite

There’s not much to say about this, but the Kick-Ass movie now has a website.  On it is a countdown to the trailer’s release on Myspace (ugh, why not Apple?) in 4 days and a form for you to submit your email address for more updates.

Normally I wouldn’t post news so minuscule, but Kick-Ass demands every bit of attention we can heap on it.

Kick-Ass hits cinemas on April 16th, 2010.

Dan Akyroyd, Anna Faris, Justin Timberlake in Negotiations for ‘Yogi Bear’

Entertainment Weekly (.com) is reporting that Anna Faris, Dan Akyroyd, and Justin Timberlake are all in negotiations to star in the live action/CGI movie adaptation of Yogi Bear. Here’s what EW.com is saying with regards to what roles they would play:

[Faris] will play Rachel, a nature documentary filmmaker shooting Yogi and Boo-Boo for her next project. Dan Aykroyd is in negotiations to voice the CG-animated Yogi while Justin Timberlake is in talks to voice Boo-Boo.

Sounds like another bad cartoon to live action adaptation if you ask me. Are producers, directors, writers, etc. in Hollywood even paying attention to their predecessors?…

Four Kick-Ass Character Posters!

IGN has posted the four new character posters from the upcoming Kick-Ass movie set to open on April 16 from Lionsgate Studios! You can check out all four of the posters by clicking the picture below!

In the world of Kick-Ass, superheroes only exist in comic books. That is, until high-school student Dave Lizewski puts on a costume and takes to patrolling the streets at night to right the wrongs that no one else can. So it is in Mark Millar and John Romita, Jr.’s hugely popular comic series, which will soon be a Lionsgate film starring Nicolas Cage, Aaron Johnson and Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and directed by Layer Cake’s Matthew Vaughn.
