SaltCon is held at the Davis County Convention Center in Utah just North of Salt Lake City. Last week our very own Cassidy Ward talked about the upcoming gaming convention and the annual Ion Award Competition held March 12 -14 2015. There’s a lot more to do than play and see unpublished games vie for the Ion Award. This year the SaltCon event coordinators have brought together 40% more exhibitors, double the events, and panels galore. There’s something for everyone.
The panels will be excellent for anyone wanting to create their own game, design a game, tell stories with games or via role playing. There will be forums with experts and amateurs all willing and able to help newcomers and veterans alike. There will be a prototype alley with a prototype game jam. There are even more Play to Win’s this year alongside figure painting, RPG’s for anyone ready to jump in with new friends. There are tournaments for just about every game (the list is found here), as well as game demo’s everywhere you look.
Speaking of game demo’s, SaltCon’s Hot Games feature brings the hottest games from other game conventions like Essen and BGG.Con. Games like “Aqua Sphere”, “Alchemists”, “Deus”, “Rolll For The Galaxy”, “Colt Express” and “Fields of Arle”. Some of the games aren’t event available for retail sell yet so SaltCon is your opportunity to get your hands on the games you want to play before you buy them.
If you’re into picking up new games instead of playing in tournaments, you can check out the exhibitors list here. It’s also good to remember that, although there will be a large game library available to attendees; you’re always welcome to bring your own games. You’re certain to find plenty of people willing to play something new. If you don’t have tickets you can still get them by visiting the SaltCon or by sharing this article on Twitter or Facebook with the hashtag #ThursdayAtSaltCon. We’ll be giving away Thursday passes for SaltCon at 7PM on Monday, March 9th to 5 lucky winners.
