Robotech Homefront RPG available from Kickstarter!

The following is a guest post by Missy Oveson.

The Robotech: Homefront supplement Kickstarter launched and reached its funding goal on October 19. The supplement brings the fun of exploring and surviving Earth after the Invid infested world. You can also play as the slug people, Invid, or the Tirolians, the race of the Robotech Masters.

Recently I got to play this new supplement with my regular roleplaying group. When I was planning the one-shot for my review, I asked one creator, Bryan Young, what he recommended I run for my group. He recommended I run something involving the Invid because he really enjoyed how the Invid changed Earth and what humans had to do to survive. I ended up having my group infiltrate an Invid infested zone to get a mecha, that had been shot down, for the Army of the Southern Cross. My group is the kind to charm, intimidate, and think of clever solutions to solve problems over just heading into combat. They enjoyed playing with their small team of heroes to survive their mission through clever thinking and teamwork. The game was simple for the group to pick up with a system that only used six-sided dice. We had a few sticky successes where the character did what they set out to do, but lost something in the process, like the ability to shut a door behind them after busting it open.

This supplement is a great addition to the Robotech RPG for groups who are interested in role-playing, exploring, or are just fans of the original Robotech. I would not recommend it though for players who are more interested in nitty-gritty hard core mecha combat. There are other systems that play with that better, but Robotech does an amazing job making roleplaying and teamwork the fun of the game.

You can still back this Kickstarter until November 2, 2021. Extra funds now go to include more art for the book of the new equipment, mecha, races, and ships. Through the Kickstarter, you can get an exclusive cover for your book, which will have very limited availability after the Kickstarter is over. The supplement requires the base game, but you can buy the game as an addon to the Kickstarter in hardback or PDF. Other fun addons include dice, art, pins, and the chance to have Bryan Young write you into the world of the Robotech.
