I ran across this video on the From Director Steven Spielberg tumblr, and it made me want to watch all the Spielberg movies all over again. Also, it made me cry.
With the incomparable John Williams music playing against visuals from every Spielberg film (except for Lincoln, his latest), this video is a beautiful tribute to a spectacular director. And even though it clocks in at ten minutes, it certainly doesn’t seem that long. The shots are so brief, you find yourself hoping to identify which film they’re from before it cuts to a different one.
Cups of water on a dashboard? Jurassic Park. Sunflowers withering? E.T. A candle being lit? Schindler’s List. The briefest images are shared, but if you’re familiar with the films, then your heartstrings will be tugged, and you’ll want to put on a brown fedora and fly over the moon in a bicycle. Or maybe fit into those smashing tights again.
