Graphic.ly adds Marvel Comics to the Digital roster

Constantly tracking the movements of Digital comic book distributors can be a daunting task as it is a new outlet ,I get press releases from companies and PR agents days after they are relevant. Today iFanboy announced their parent company Graphic.ly has added Marvel comics saying:
“This means that the vast collection of Marvel Comics, previously only available on the desktop via the Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited Platform on Marvel.com can now be downloaded and enjoyed by you on the Graphic.ly desktop application, also meaning that you no longer need to be connected to the Internet in order to read your Marvel Comics in full resolution on your desktop monitor.”
I have been confused by Marvel’s Digital strategy, unless it’s simply over saturation. Marvel has an iPhone/iPad app and a huge presence online offering literally thousands of issues for around sixty dollars a year. With that kind of availability, I don’t see how adding their output to Graphic.ly for a 1.99 per book is any different than offering the same books already available on the Marvel/comixology app. As far as I can tell, and I’ll admit I haven’t played with the app long enough to get a real feel for it, Graphic.ly seems like every other app adding links to twitter and face book. However if they can link the huge following iFanboy has it might take off.
