I remember playing a lot of the Need for Speed video games throughout my gaming life, and while I remember really just enjoying the hell out of them, I don’t really recall if they were great games or not – just not really a racing game guy I guess. In any case, Need for Speed is getting the movie treatment and it stars none other than Aaron Paul.
Jesse Pinkman, er, I mean, Aaron Paul driving around like a badass?! Count me in, take my money. In the interest of full disclosure, I am a sucker for the Fast and Furious films – especially as of late – and it looks like the studio is taking this EA game, adapting it into a film, attaching a kick-ass young star to it, and putting Vin Diesel and Paul Walker right in their cross hairs.
Game on.
I know, video game movie adaptations don’t have a fantastic track record, but I am really rooting for Aaron Paul post-Breaking Bad. Frankly, I think this movie looks to have some potential as a great action/chase/revenge flick; this first trailer alone pretty much has me sold. There is just one thing that really bugs me about this trailer; honestly, they couldn’t find time to fit this in there?!
Need for Speed hits theaters on March 14, 2014, is directed by Scott Waugh, and stars Aaron Paul, Chillie Mo, and Dominic Cooper.
