I caught this on engadget.com this morning and it caught my eye enough to make me stop and look a little closer, which I don’t really do very often. This “Gadget” is a DIY SIM reader accompanied by a comic book, Citizen Engineer Vol. 1, that instructs you how to build and use the reader. This is a very interesting idea. Using a comic book to teach people how to build and hack. If these had been around when I was a little robot I probably would be much more involved with computers and tech than I am now. I’m no slouch but when it comes to things like this that developed when I was older I started taking them for granted and figuring I could always get somebody else to help me. An attitude that’s bitten me in the metal ass more than once.
The kit plus the comic is $35. Not bad considering what youre getting. Check out Adafruit’s site for some more cool stuff and the product page here.
