‘Bullet Train’ First Trailer

All aboard the first trailer for Bullet Train!

The upcoming action-comedy film is set for release July 15, 2022. Based on the novel Maria Beetle—published in the United States as Bullet Train—by Kōtarō Isaka, the movie sees five assassins aboard the same train, all fighting to the death for the same briefcase.

Bullet trains are fast, that’s sort of what they’re known for, and the trailer for the movie promises exactly that from the film itself. The action looks to be fast paced and unrelenting. Not wholly surprising considering David Leitch (Deadpool 2, Atomic Blonde, John Wick) is in the director’s chair.

Despite its star-studded cast, which includes the likes of Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Sandra Bullock (replacing Lady Gaga), Michael Shannon, Brian Tyree Henry, Hiroyuki Sanada, and Masi Oka, the trailer focuses mostly on Brad Pitt’s character, a killer known as Ladybug who just wants to get out of the game.

In a classic, “I was only two weeks from retirement” scenario, Ladybug is on the train for what’s supposed to be a quiet job which turns out to be anything but.

We haven’t cared as much about the contents of a briefcase since Pulp Fiction, although, we might be satisfied not know what’s inside as long as the train offers a satisfying ride.

Considering Leitch’s action resume, it’s a reasonable assumption that Bullet Train will be a fun action punch ‘em up with the added twist of tight quarters. His most successful films to date have had the benefit of sprawling set pieces and places to hide. No such luck aboard a lumbering hunk of metal cruising at a few hundred miles per hour.

We have a feeling when some of the passengers depart their train ride, it’ll be for good. Still, it looks fun enough that we’ll still likely buy the ticket to ride. Check out the first trailer for Bullet Train for yourself.
