Video Game Quick Hits

Seems like it’s been a while since I’ve had anything to report. Nothing spectacular today but we do have a few things of interest.

Ubisoft announced that they will have a new update to Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood “coming soon.” It’s not a major update, just fixing a few glitches in both multiplayer and single player. I haven’t played it yet, but this one is definitely high in the GameQ. Seems like I might be doing myself a favor by waiting, let them fix the glitches then play the finished version.

Some time ago Valve announced they were delaying Portal 2 from February to April. I was expecting another delay, but I’m pleasantly surprised. Instead, they have confirmed it will release April 19, 2011. I am itching for this one.

There’s a new trailer for Yakuza 4 that showcases the character of Tanimura. Apparently he’s a good cop that turns to the dark side to track down his father’s killer. I haven’t touched this series since the first one’s poor handling turned me off of it years ago. I have heard that it’s much better now. Should I be adding it to the Q?

Refusing to go down without a fight, Dungeons and Dragons has a new game announced for the digital download market. I wasn’t aware this franchise even still existed. The new game, Daggerdale (produced by Bedlam Games), is an action-RPG featuring cooperative multiplayer both online and off. It is scheduled for PSN, PC and XBox Live in spring 2011.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is expanding in the form of two DLC packs. “Reverie” and “Resurrection” are set for early 2011 and both sound very interesting. “Reverie” sends you back to the castle as Gabriel with the intent of helping Laura, a servant of Carmilla. Taking place after the main game, “Resurrection” promises to help you make sense out of the ending. Something the game sorely needed.

That’s it for now. I’ll be back with anything new that I see. Have a Merry Christmas everyone.
