There are few things in gaming I look forward to more than a new episode from Telltale. Tuesday, May 27th will see the release of The Wolf Among Us Episode 4: In Sheep’s Clothing. When we last saw the Big Bad Wolf things had definitely taken a turn for the worse and our anti-hero was in extremely bad shape. So what’s next for our favorite Sam Spade / Wolverine love child? According to Telltale:
Has the Wolf met his match? Beaten and bloody, Bigby is confronted by the realization that a society built on a series of secrets is ripe for exploitation. And that the disenfranchised of Fabletown may see his prey not as the cause of their problems, but as their solution. Constantly caught between “the rules” and doing the right thing, Bigby must tread a path fraught with danger in this penultimate episode of The Wolf Among Us.
Sony has sent out invitations to the PS4 version of the PlayStation Now private beta. From what’s being reported so far, only those who were invited to the PS3 beta are getting these invites. Users of this beta are the first to be able to play PS3 games on their new-gen consoles. I’ve got my code, but haven’t had time to download yet. Not that I can relate any of my experiences if I did. The NDA is predictably strict about that. If you’d like to participate in the beta as it becomes more widely available, click here for more information.
Splash Damage, the developer behind Brink and Enemy Territory (and the Arkham Origins multiplayer) is jumping into the new-gen pool. Recent job postings say they need graphics programmers, engine programmers, and environment artists for a “highly popular AAA title.” According to the listing, they “are about to engage in a very well know and highly popular AAA title with next gen technology.” One could speculate that this could be the multiplayer component of Arkham Knight, but it would be awful late to be starting as the game launches in October.
We’ve had plenty of rumors and now we have an official announcement of the changes to expect with Xbox One’s June update. First, as expected, is the external hard drive. Sorry, drives – plural. Your console will support up to two external drives, but they must be at least 256GB (why bother with anything smaller anyway). You will be able to transfer your content to the external drive and connect it to a friend’s system for instant playability. You will, of course, need to sign in to Live or insert a disc to verify that you own the content. Other changes will include real names to make it easier to find friends, SmartGlass access to the OneGuide, expanded TV options, and new Gold memberships – particularly the addition of Games With Gold.
Tarsier, the co-developer on LittleBigPlanet Vita has announced Hunger for undisclosed platforms. It is “a third-person 3D action adventure game with stealth and exploration elements. The game will follow the story of Six, a nine year old girl forced to work in The Maw, an “underwater resort catering to the whims of the powerful elite.” Little else is known about the game, but the art is intriguing.
That’s all for this week. There’s some sort of announcement being streamed on Twitch for an upcoming PlayStation title at 1:00PM Pacific today. You can learn more about it here. I’m predicting The Order: 1866. I could be wrong.
