In August Red Fly Games released a Turtles game titled Out of the Shadows. You can read my review of it here. In a nutshell, it’s awesome. The ability to play four player co-op was something I had wanted to do with a few friends for as long as I can remember.
So I was glad to see that feature continue in yesterday’s release, simply titled, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This game available for Wii, Xbox 360, and 3DS is based entirely on the ongoing TMNT series on Nickelodeon.
The game features 15 levels taking you throughout the city both above and below ground. All the while, Shredder and Krang work nefarious plans to drop a mutagen bomb on the city. As you know if you’re familiar at all with the franchise, usually when people come into contact with mutagen, it’s big badness. So OBVIOUSLY the TMNT have to stop him. That’s where you come in.
One of the main things that attracted me to Out of the Shadows was that it seemed a bit darker and the graphics and game play were impressive comparatively. This games seems a bit tapered down. The edges have been shaved off and it seems to have been simplified for the children folk.
Which is totally fine. I’m all for having a game more directed to kids. Especially when considering that is probalby the core audience they’re aiming for with the cartoon on which it’s based. So it makes sense.
I for one am a fan of almost all things Turtles. It’s a sacred cow. I can look past a mediocre forest to find one or two trees that I really like. So I’m excited it exists.
You can get it at Amazon, or Gamestop, or wherever else you usually go to purchase that kind of stuff.
Check out this trailer for a taste. Cheers.
