On the Playstation Blog today, Sony revealed that all new PS4 consoles will include a few extra goodies for early adopters.
First, is a $10 PSN credit players will be free to use on whatever they want — games, movies, DLC, the choice is yours. Also included is a 30 day free trial of PS+ and Music Unlmited, their streaming music service.
Of course, anyone who wants to play online will need a PS+ membership, and that offer isn’t too different from what Microsoft offers with a new Xbox and Live Gold, so one could easily say this is a way to get people hooked on the service. That said, PS+ has definitely set the bar for what a premium service can offer, and I have gotten more than my $50 a year back in free and discounted games, Music Unlimited is cool, but nothing too crazy. If you use Spotify, Rhapsody or some other streaming music service, you probably won’t be interested in it.
Sadly, the PS+ and Music Unlmited trial is only available to new subscribers, so it won’t stack with your current subscription, but the $10 credit is good for everyone.
With the Xbox One launch coming so shortly after the PS4, it will be interesting to see if Microsoft has any surprises in store for their gamers as well. Keep an eye on BSR, as we’ll let you know as soon as we find anything out!
