Once again Nintendo came around Salt Lake City to show us all the coolest games that would be coming out over the holiday season.
Perhaps the most exciting thing they showed us was Smash Bros. for the Wii-U which is coming sometime in November. They had on display a grouping of Amiibos,
These are figures that will be compatible with a variety of games and come as Nintendo’s official entry into the world of really cool figures we all want and will have cluttering our shelves in no time.
That Link is nothing short of stunning.
There were other games we were shown, but Smash Bros. was the one I was most excited by. I played quite a bit of a Sonic the Hedgehog game, both for the Wii U and the 3DS, but I’ll admit the 3DS version was much more to my tastes as it more resembled the original games.
I was less impressed by “Bayonetta 2.” It looks gorgeous, but it’s just not the sort of game I’m interested in playing.
The only other game that I was quite taken with and would have spent as much time playing as they would let me was “Swords and Soldiers II.” It’s a side-scrolling tower defense, resource collection mashup skinned with vikings that was as hilarious as it was challenging. The controls were intuitive and easy to grasp and I can’t wait until its available for me to play at home.
All in all, there’s going to be a lot of great things coming from Nintendo this holiday season.
