For years rumors and speculation have bubbled up about Blizzards latest MMO “Titan’. Mentions of it brought buzz to the room and had gamers jumping for joy, but some kept wondering “why don’t we know anything yet?”. With “World of Warcraft” having insane success it was only a matter of time until Blizzard released another blockbuster MMO right? With seven years in development and a reboot which took place last year, it has been officially announced that the game has been cancelled, siting “lack of passion for the project.”
“We didn’t find the fun.” “We didn’t find the passion.”
“We had created World of Warcraft, and we felt really confident that we knew how to make MMOs,” Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime explained. “So we set out to make the most ambitious thing that you could possibly imagine. And it didn’t come together. We didn’t find the fun. We didn’t find the passion. We talked about how we put it through a reevaluation period, and actually, what we reevaluated is whether that’s the game we really wanted to be making. The answer is no.”
According to Polygon, Blizzard also wants to be known for more than giant MMOs. Successful games like “Hearthstone” and “Heroes of the Storm” of changed the direction for some of their releases. The success of “Hearthstone” made them realize that they don’t have to make games of a massive scale to be successful.
I guess we can hope for the next one.
