This week in [adult swim]: Robot Chicken premiere to be DC Comics Special

Welcome back from a long hiatus from this column. Going to give it another try just because I’m so dang excited about this one.

Sunday, Sept 9th, Robot Chicken will begin its 6th season with a celebration all things DC. Their DC Comics special will include all sorts of making fun of Aquaman, robot humping the Batsignal, Bane breaking Batman’s back jokes, and. . . .  just watch the trailer:

From the press release: “The all-star cast includes Seth Green as Batman, Robin and the put-upon Aquaman, Neil Patrick Harris as Two-Face, Alfred Molina as Lex Luthor, Nathan Fillion as the Green Lantern, Megan Fox as Lois Lane, Breckin Meyer as Superman, plus Abe Benrubi, Alex Borstein, Clare Grant, Tara Strong, Matt Senreich, Tom Root, Zeb Wells, and Kevin Shinick as co-producer and narrator.”

Also, this:

Whatever they’re doing, they seem to be trying to flaunt that it’s DC, not Marvel.  Good idea? Could be worse.

So, set your DVRs, and in the meantime, I highly suggest you continue the watch the following:

Black Dynamite. Are you watching this $#!}? It is incredibly awesome. Based on the blaxploitation sendup film of a couple years ago and from some of the folks behind The Boondocks, watch as Black Dynamite protects his ‘hood from threats that range from the white man to space aliens to the white man to the IRS. . .and you get the idea. Seriously, the funniest animated show they’ve got on the air right now and have had since the most recent run of Metalocalypse finished a month ago.

Now as for live action hilarity, I hope you’ve caught the return of Childrens Hospital and NTSF:SD:SUV, whose new episodes began last week.  If not, you can catch up online. New episodes Thursdays at midnight.

And are you watching Loiter Squad? Or Aqua Teen You Know Whatever? Awesome. Please laugh with me and then explain to me why these shows are both so messed up and so funny.

As always, the full schedule is here: http://www.adultswim.com/schedule/index.html
