Four Episodes In: Perfect Couples

Perfect Couples is a half hour comedy on NBC. It is created by Jon Pollack who has worked on Spin City and 30 Rock. The plot centers around three couples, one which is a normal couple played by Kyle Bornheimer (Worst Week) and Christine Woods (FlashForward). The second couple is the always fighting couple played by David Walton and Mary Elizabeth Ellis (The Waitress on It’s Always Sunny) and the experts at relationships played by Hayes MacArthur and Olivia Munn (Attack of The Show, The Daily Show).

This show has been interesting because the pilot was incredibly bad. I was really not looking forward to watching a second episode however the second episode is amazingly better then the first. The pilot was shown about a month before the second episode was as a preview and was not received well, so they must have done what they needed to fix the series.

The show is decent, at least the second through fourth episodes are. It is a comedy without a laugh track so that is a plus. It also has Mary Elizabeth Ellis who I love. But I am hesitant to recommend it to anyone. It’s decent but there are much better comedies out there and unless this show is able to stay consistent then I wouldn’t bother. I will continue to watch it but I don’t know if it’ll stay as funny as it wants to be.
