Hey look! The corporate overlords at Fox have given us a little sneak peak of their Axe Cop cartoon show, coming soon to Saturday Nights “Animation Domination Hi Def” or “ADHD.”

So, thoughts? I got together with the king of Gut Reactions, ShazBot, to check in on this:
Shaz-Bot: I honestly thought this was terrible. In comics, Axe Cop works, because you can be an active part of the story, interpreting some aspects of it yourself, but in this, it was like being thrown a bunch of crazy at once. I know the book is like that too, but maybe it just doesn’t translate to screen as well?
Citizen-Bot: First of all, that totally sounds like Nick Offerman. Which, if it is, that is AWESOME that he will be playing Axe Cop.
Second, they could do worse for content. Especially if this is going to be in 15 minute episodes a la [adult swim] as they previously said. Otherwise, this seems like it might get a little tiresome after a half hour.
I think they’re waiting to see fan reaction. If it goes viral, they’ll announce something. If it doesn’t, they’ll retool. But that’s just me being cynical.
Shaz-Bot: It is, in fact, Nick Offerman
Citizen-Bot: I now need to go change my pants. And then tell everyone on the internet to watch this and share it if they want more Axe Cop.
Shaz-Bot: I should be in bed as it is. I have to set and sell some Assassin’s Creed tomorrow.
Citizen-Bot: I don’t know how you can sleep. I need to watch this at least three more times. But, caveat- this is a little more low-key than I’d like. I hope Nick Offerman can bring the heat and not be just deadpan. How will he sound when he says “I WILL CHOP YOUR HEAD OFF!!”? Need more of that.
