LOST Weekly Recap/Review

The season premiere of Lost aired Wednesday…and it’s Friday. We’re late but we promise our malfunctioning priority and deadline chips have been replaced and we’ll get our asses on it next week.

Proletariatron- I’ve got to point out one thing that just bugged the shit out of me the entire time. Sawyer put a fucking shirt on. I’m sure all you fem-bots loved it but after the first hour it was getting ridiculous. Other than that I thought that these first two episodes were great. Jack finally got rid of that ridiculous ass beard and we found out some interesting things about the island. Such as there have been a few different groups of inhabitants, and we finally got the real name of the Doctor in all of the Orientation films. We found out a little bit about the newest cast-aways, Charlotte, Faraday, and Miles as well. But that stuff just lead to more questions(of course) Now that Ben has moved the Island the whole group left there have gone into Slaughterhouse 5 time travel mode much like Desmond had been. With all the flash-backs and flash-forwards this shouldn’t be to hard to follow for most of us. I hope that it gives us more of an idea of the history of the island. At the end of the second hour we had flaming arrows killing people left and right and a group of uniformed men surrounding Sawyer and Juliet. They didn’t seem to be wearing standard Dharma issue clothing so maybe they were the start of the Hostiles?  Also in the second hour we had Hurley being crazy and running around with Sayyid who now murders anyone who looks at him wrong as well as running into the ghost of Anna Lucia. Meanwhile Jack and Ben are trying to figure out how to get everyone back to the Island together. Locke is easy since he is sitting in a coffin apparently because Richard Alpert told him he was going to have to die to get them back.Kate’s being pretty resistant to it but now that somebody wants to run a blood test on her and Aaron I’m betting she’ll be a bit more receptive to the idea. Big problem they are all going to face when they all agree to go back is where the hell did the damn island go? or when did it go? or whatever the fuck its doing. We got a little bit of insight into that in the end but once again In true Lost fashion, they answered a few questions but left us wondering what the fuck? for another week.

Arse-Bot – Finally! LOST is back! I thought the first two hours of the season were great, and I actually got the feeling that we will finally at least start getting answers to the questions we have been asking for the last several seasons! I really found the transitioning back and forth to the island even more interesting, because keep in mind, we are picking up with those that stayed behind right after the island disappeared, but when we are with the O6, it has been three years. So we have THREE years of happenings on the island that needs to be explained! My guess for how this season was going to go was that we will spend the first 15 episodes catching up on the last 3 years of the island goings-ons and watching the O6 struggle to get back to those they left behind; I thought that until the last, what, 2 fucking minutes of the episode when that old lady (who the fuck is she by the way!?) put a timeline on them getting back. So maybe we will actually see them return before season’s end, but of course, who really knows!?

Hurley was in prime form for these two hours. He has always been the light-hearted comic relief and he delivered. My favorite Hurley line was when he told Sayid that if maybe he ate more comfort food he wouldn’t kill people. I also found Hurley’s confession to his mother very touching as you can tell that keeping up the lie has probably weighed on him the most on a moral level; however, I have a feeling that will come back to bite him in the ass.

At first, I was a little hesitant about all the time traveling, but as the episodes went on, I think it’s something that works and doesn’t seem to be a crutch mechanism they will be using the entire season. I do, however, hope they don’t use time travel to just explain away many of the mysteries that still need to be addressed, on the island.

The season has gotten off to a great start and I think they have set an exhilarating pace for the season overall. I think this will probably be the most “action-packed” season thus far, and I am okay with that as it doesn’t appear they will not forget the story telling (I mean, really, how can you? It’s fucking LOST, it’s ALL story driven!).

Sorry for the delayed review, but you can check back for Arse’s and Proletaria’s (more in depth) LOST reviews every Thursday for our thoughts on what’s going on, on and off the island.
