The average price of a Hewlett-Packard color ink-jet cartridge comes in at a whopping $22.00 an ounce. To put that into perspective a 750ml bottle of 1988 Louis Roederer Cristal Rose Champagne is just shy of $21.00 an ounce. You can drink like a star for less per ounce than what companies are charging for printer ink. Being one that has spent thousands of dollars in printer ink over my lifetime, I have given my last penny to overpriced ink and overpriced ink refills. As a business owner and one who prints full color invoices on a daily basis, I have found the Continuous Ink Supply System superb.
Inkproducts.com has many kits for the top printer brands HP, Canon, Epson and Brother, most of which are a snap to install. The ink quality is par with the original manufacture ink. With my photo printer I am able to print beautiful OEM ink quality pictures for a fraction of the price. Inkproducts.com offers HP ink for as low as $2.40 an ounce.
The kit includes full color, easy to follow installation instructions. You will find included in the kit pre-filled siphon bottles with each color that your printer uses. The bottles sit at the same level that the printer sits. The ink supply tubes are long enough that if you would like, you can hide the bottles behind the printer. In most of their systems no modifications to the printer is needed. On my printer this was not the case. A small piece of plastic needed to be removed so the ink lines would not be pinched. I used a Dremel with a small cutting disk and a sanding attachment to complete the modification needed on my printer. This process only took me about 10 minutes to complete. Their site will inform you if modification for your specific printer model will be needed.
The ink cartridges snap into place as one big unit that is connected together. Removal is a bit tricky, as all the tabs must be pressed simultaneously to unlock from the printer. Removal of the ink cartridge is not a frequent task. You will only need to remove the cartridge if a deep printer cleaning is needed. Some printers have an onboard ink level system that is reset when you replace the cartridges. Inkproducts.com has taken care of this with a small button that you press to reset the levels. This button can be seen in the picture above on the right side of the cartridge. You will only use this button when the printer reports low ink. After pressing the button, the level will then be reset to full.
I find that the Continuous Ink Supply System is a must have for small business and anyone that prints regularly. I have been using this system for nearly 6 months now and have not encountered a single issue. The money you will save from this kit will pay for itself repetitively.
The kits and ink can be found at www.inkproducts.com and range from $69.99 – $129.99
