Go Go Gadget: Google Project Glass

Today Google’s secret lab, Google[x] announced Project Glass. This a project that has been in development that implements an augmented reality and a new UI in new prototype glasses. Your phone is integrated for some features like messages and video chats.  You can also do things like look out the window and look toward the sky, with this action the temperature and weather will automatically pop up for you to see. They show alerts with subways being shut down and then will provide you a heads up walking navigation to get to your destination.

This is what they have to say on the Google+ Page:

We think technology should work for you—to be there when you need it and get out of your way when you don’t.

A group of us from Google[x] started Project Glass to build this kind of technology, one that helps you explore and share your world, putting you back in the moment. We’re sharing this information now because we want to start a conversation and learn from your valuable input. So we took a few design photos to show what this technology could look like and created a video to demonstrate what it might enable you to do.

Chances are that they won’t work as seamless as the video shows, not to mention how big of a clown you will look like without lenses. Could be interesting if integrated into prescription glasses or sunglasses.

What do you guys think? Innovation? Or a another project flop for Google?
