New Avengers #1

When this book was first solicited my first thought was, “We have 3 ongoing Avengers books coming out before this. Why do we need another and why do they have to restart New Avengers with a new #1?” Well I had a chance to read this last week and oh my stars was I bitching for no reason! This book is fun and gets into the super-heroing action right away as Luke brings the team together and something funky is going on with the former and current sorcerer supremes. As a first issue this has been my favorite of the recent influx of Avengers books! Go get this I say!

Atlas #2

If you haven’t been reading Agents of Atlas over the last few years then you’ve been missing out on a real treat. In my opinion you can’t go wrong with a book that has a killer robot and gorilla with machine guns! And with the restart of this series in the age of heroics writer Jeff Parker has gone and made 3D Man a character that I actually care about. So if you like fun then give this book a try. And if you’re already reading it then you are doing something right in life!

In this not very revealing visit of the set of Thor, Entertainment Tonight proves that it’s easy for them to not be in on the joke.

There isn’t a whole lot of new anything in this piece (though we do get a glimpse of Odin!) and the interviewer asks the most banal questions in the whole galaxy.

I’m still incredibly excited for this movie, even though it’s ridiculously obvious that Entertainment Tonight doesn’t get it at all. Why do these people have access to the set and get to reveal stuff like this? They should at least have the decency to hire someone who knows what they’re doing, or has a rapport with the actors.

This is also the first I’ve seen of Natalie Portman in the role and Kenneth Branagh talking about it on video.  But again the ET! interviewer and editor picks out the lamest quotes possible.

In July we will see our first X-Men #1 in over 20 years. It will be continued from Death of Dracula, which will be out the week before, and officially starts the “Curse of the Mutants” story. Here is a preview that Marvel sent us of the first issue and its different covers.

If you are a fan and reader of Marvel Comics then on June 30th you may want to pick up what would normally be a seemingly unimportant book, “Death of Dracula.” Like it or not Vampires will be taking over the Marvel Universe and this is a big deal. It is being said that “The stunning events of this issue will affect the  Marvel Universe in the coming months and it all begins here!” and that this issue begins the biggest changes to the Marvel Universe since Civil War. The teaser, posted below, has the tagline that “One betrayal damns the Heroic Age!” The effects will immediately be felt in the X-titles with the upcoming “Curse of the Mutants” story which starts in the new adjectiveless X-Men series in July.

So now it has been confirmed that Stanley Tucci will be in the Captain America movie as Dr Abraham Erskine. Dr Erskine is the man responsible for the creation of the Super Soldier serum that Steve Rogers takes to become Captain America.
