There are few things I am more excited about in this universe than the release of Star Wars: The Old Republic. The more I read and see of this game the more I want to trade in various body parts to be able to play it. It’s been over a month since Bioware released their last trailer, and I, for one, was starting to get impatient.

Bioware isn’t disappointing drooling, hungry fans, with the release of trailers like this, which today show some gameplay and general badassery associated with the Bounty Hunter class.

For those not following the development of the game, Bounty Hunters will only play on the side of the Sith. (The Republic will have its own class of similarly skilled players,  Republic Troopers, which also look pretty bad-ass. By the way, if you want to see what Swankmotron would look like as a Republic Trooper, this trailer looks pretty close.)

I love the feeling that Bioware is giving us here- they’ve promised us that they want to give players the feeling of playing as an epic character. If you want to be Boba Fett, you can BE Boba Fett.  And for someone who has loved Boba Fett as long as… well, I can remember, this is amazing. Looks like you’ll have actual missions hunting down bounties, something I really wish had been a bigger part of Bioware’s earlier Knights of the Old Republic.

This game also has a big hill to climb- how in the world do you make playing as another class as fun and as balanced as playing against a Jedi/Sith? Well, I don’t want to say “Mission Accomplished” until I get to play the game, but you’ve made me believe at least Bounty Hunters can be formidable against Jedi. I hope we’ll see the same progression with the other classes. By the way, Bioware has also released class-specific trailers for Smugglers (Republic) and their counterparts Imperial Agents (Sith), as well as Sith Warriors and Jedi Knights.  So the only one’s we’re missing are the ones that could, in my opinion, be either the funnest classes to play or the absolute lamest, depending on their execution: Sith Inquisitors and Jedi Consulars. By the way, they’ll be the only classes with the fancy double-bladed lightsabers, but their focus will be more on force powers than melee battle. So, lets of elemental attacks, force lightning, etc.
