ClevverMovies got a chance to talk to Kathleen Kennedy on the press line at CinemaCon and talk naturally devolved to talk about Star Wars.
The first question, after asking how she managed to get Abrams into Star Wars, was about the film technology (IMAX or 3D) that would be utilized for Episode VII…
Kennedy: We haven’t really decided yet. We’re still working on the script and still working out the story and really sort of finding our way as of to what the approach will be. But all of the technology is, of course, going to figure into Star Wars.
Interviewer: There’s a lot of talk about spin-offs. What characters are you considering?
Kennedy: We’re definitely writing those scripts and we’re determining what those spin-offs are going to be right now.
Interviewer: Are you interested in having Abrams direct the whole trilogy?
Kennedy: We’ll have to see. That’s the last thing I would put on his plate, he’s got his hands full just getting VII done. If that were a possibility down the road, of course, we would consider that.
Interviewer: Are there any other directors you have in mind for spin-offs?
Kennedy: Oh yes. There’s a lot of wonderful directors.
Interviewer: Can I get a name?
Kennedy: No.
I think she said, “Yes, IMAX and 3D,” but in a very roundabout way. We’ve had Star Wars in both IMAX and 3D before, it’s not inconceivable that we’d be getting that with Episode VII.
There isn’t a whole lot of new news here, but I felt it was worth passing along.
