Mark Hamill thrilled the Internet by hosting an AMA (Ask Me Anything) on Reddit.com today. Hamill was a bit later than expected but that was easily forgiven considering the AMA he was on was far, far away. Mark Hamill is a classy guy with a long and storied history in the entertainment industry. In his intro he let everyone know that he would normally have waited until Star Wars day in May but he is working on campaign to support Make-A-Wish. He posted a link to the campaign on Omaze.com with entries starting at $10 dollars. The prize for everyone is helping a great cause, but the prize for one lucky winner is a trip to Skywalker Ranch, a meet and greet with George Lucas, and the opportunity to visit with Hamill at the Nerdist Studio.
Mark Hamill’s recent media interviews have revealed more about the 62 year old actor than just the popular public perception of him as a young adventurer from Tatooine and his AMA was no exception. That being said, the most popular questions were certainly about Star Wars with a majority of interest concerning what his role might be in the upcoming Episode VII film. Always a joker though, his first answer was to Man_Flute’s question, “What’s your favorite soup?”
Hamill answered, “I like Anderson’s tomato soup and French onion soup, although I’m not eating dairy right now so I can’t have that great cheese on top.”
There were other personal questions asked of Mr. Hamill like what his favorite music was, or what his secret to having a successful marriage was. He tried to answer as many as he could. The Redditors also asked him about his voice acting career with specific questions about The Joker and Metalocalypse.
He even answered a Star Wars version of the traditional Reddit question, “Would you rather fight 100 duck sized horses or one horse sized duck?”
Of course he was asked about his feelings on Star Wars. Reddit member tmoss726 had a great question concerning the critical success of Star Wars, a movie that forever changed popular culture and the business of entertainment.
Proving his geek cred as both icon and fan, he answered user Vorlux’s question about who his own hero was when he was six.
