While browsing around the internet, I stumbled across an interesting site that was offering people the opportunity to watch the Hobbit trailer in 48 fps. Since I fully enjoyed seeing the movie that way, I was intrigued to see what it would look like on a computer, and I’m pleased to say that it gives a pretty accurate representation of what the movie looks like in a theatre. Granted, this is only simulated 48 fps, but after watching this version of the trailer and the other ‘normal’ ones (even in HD), the 48 fps version definitely stood out.
The trailer can be downloaded here, just be sure to grab the High Quality version. The reason it requires a download is that the file is quite large and doesn’t stream well as most people will not have an internet speed fast enough to let them enjoy the full quality of the video.
You will also need to download a ‘VLC Player’, which can be found almost anywhere online, but I highly recommend download.com as it is very reliable, legal, virus free, and has programs for Mac and Windows.
Once you’ve taken a look at the trailer in 48 fps, come back here and let us know what you thought of it!
