PAX PRIME: Injustice Gods Among Us

Warner Brothers and NetherRealm have a hit on their hands. I spent around fifteen minutes playing Injustice: Gods Among Us this past Saturday and walked away wanting more and more and more. While it doesn’t seem to be reinventing the fighting game genre, this one-on-one implements enough tweaks and twists to keep players engaged. Especially if you are a FAN of the DC universe and their greatest characters. I played as Nightwing, my wing dings were deadly. The fighting moves are as fluid as the interaction with the environments. If your hero or villain gets backed into corners you can elude or if you are a power character, just grab the closest blunt object (i.e. a car) and use it as a battering ram. Each character can launch visceral ‘super moves’ (gimmick buttons?) tailored to their fighting styles and abilities. ‘Injustice’ is over the top comic book action at it’s best. TBA 2013.
