Gale Force Nine has announced that they are working on a board game version of the cult favorite sci-fi show Firefly that will be released in the fall of this year. In it, players will travel the ‘Verse in a Firefly class ship looking for jobs, hiring crews and determining if they want to succeed the safe and legal way, or flout the law, take on illegal contracts and win big.
John Kovaleski, CEO of Gale Force Nine said:
Building on the success of Spartacus: A Game of Blood and Treachery, we’re thrilled to be making a game that evokes the heart and themes of Firefly – the best ‘gorram’ show in the ‘Verse.” With challenging game play, fantastic production values and compelling narratives, you and your fellow captains will want to head out into the big black again and again.
He also stated that this would be the first in a line of Firefly themed games, so if you want to see a Firefly miniatures game (much like Fantasy Flight Games have done with Star Wars), I highly suggest you pick up the game when it comes out later this year.

Here’s a peek at what the board is supposed to look like as well. Keep in mind, though, that the game is still being worked on, so anything you see here is likely to change between now and the release date.
