A dry ice bomb apparently exploded in a trash can at Disneyland, and LA Police and the bomb squad are on the scene investigating what happened.
According to LALate.com, around 6:00 PM PDT, a bottle containing dry ice that had been tossed in a trash can in Toontown blew up, making an extremely loud noise and wrecked the trash can, but thankfully, there were no injuries.
Twitter has been abuzz with people who were nearby when the explosion took place, with @SurelyShawna saying “Was sitting in Toontown at Disneyland and something exploded in the trash can. I felt the sound waves of it and Toontown is closed.” and @Bob_Owens reporting “#Disneyland evacuation seems orderly, no panic nor injuries reported. “Explosion” may be too strong of a word to describe event.”
Toontown has been completely evacuated, but it appears that the rest of the park is still open to visitors.
We’ll post more information as it becomes available, but all I can say is that, while I’m sure this was just planned as some kind of joke by some punk(s), this kind of shit isn’t funny anymore. Whether it was meant as a prank or not, people could have been seriously injured, and considering the fact that I have some close friends with young kids visiting the park today who very well could have been in Toontown when this took place, I find this far from a laughing matter.
Here’s hoping they catch the bastards, and soon.
