Journalists and the internet awoke this morning to announcements that At&t will be providing their customers with a shared data option in place of their normal family plans. Much like the Verizon change, customers will pick a bucket of data to share instead of voice, and add their devices for a connection fee. The difference with the At&t plan is that as you increase your data bucket the connection fee reduces in price. Also the individual plans for At&t seem to be staying the same. From a cost perspective it seems that pricing stays the same for most customers staying within 5 lines, the savings start if you’re adding tablets, aircards, or lines above 6 into your family plan. Verizons shared plans went through with minimal kick back from customers, and hardly any scandal that I can remember, and I’m assuming At&t’s launch will follow the same footsteps.
