Michael Papajohn, the man who played Uncle Ben’s original killer in Spider-Man was at a Q&A session at Wizard World, PA with Ted Raimi. He stated that he would be reprising his role in the upcoming Spider-Man 4; he proceeded to say that if he told the audience what his role entailed, he’d have to kill them.
One of my biggest complaints of Spider-Man 3 was their messing around with the Peter Parker/Uncle Ben origin story by making the Sandman his actual, accidental murderer, and the other carjacker just an accomplice. Meaning that when Peter “let” that man fall to his death out of blind remorse over his uncle, it was actually the wrong guy; and when faced by Uncle Ben’s actual killer, all is forgiven because he was just the wrong guy in the wrong place at the wrong time… who happened to rob a wrestling match, carjack an old man, and kill him.
For me, it just took something away from the original back story of that ever-famous “With great power comes great responsibility” origin story of Uncle Ben meeting his untimely demise at the hands of the man Peter let get by him out of spite… So I am a little wary that possibly in Spidey 4, they will be revisiting it… again.
