Variety is reporting that Stephen Amell has been cast as the hockey stick wielding New Yorker Casey Jones in the live action “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” sequel. Amell auditioned for the role along with five other actors last weekend, his relationship with Fox as the protagonist on “Arrow” reportedly contributed to his getting the role.
“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” brought in $191 million domestically resulting in a sequel commitment before its major theatrical run had completed. Megan Fox and Will Arnett will reprise their roles alongside the four teenage mutant heroes. Michael Bay will produce and Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec will write the script, Dave Green (“Earth to Echo”) is set to direct the sequel which is slated for June 3, 2016 release.
“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2” is currently filming and with it’s release a little more than a year out we can hope to see some images and maybe even a trailer in the coming months. I can’t wait to see Amell with long dark locks and a hockey mask, I just hope he knows what a crumpet is.
