This story has been floating around since Latino Review posted a quote from Talyor-Johnson about how he would approach the role, and the rumor popped up again today when an “unnamed source close to the film” claimed the deal is set. According to The Wrap, the Kick-Ass actor has worked out his promotional schedule with Godzilla so that he will be free to star in The Avengers sequel which is filming at the same time.
That’s all well and good, but I want to caution everyone that this is still not confirmed. Neither Marvel nor anyone from the Whedon camp have come forward and gone on record saying he has a lock on the role, and while it’s likely this will be the case, we still don’t know for sure. There’s also the fact that Latino Review claimed the deal was complete on October 3, but The Wrap said nothing was finalized until today.
We’ll keep scouring the internet and bugging our sources to get the final word, so keep an eye on BSR for an official announcement!
