Today is New Trailer for a Steven Spielberg film day! Hoorah! This is always a reason for celebration, and today Spielberg fans united in their excitement for a new upcoming Spielberg film. This summer, that film is the adaptation of Roald Dahl’s “The BFG.” (Big Friendly Giant).
I still haven’t read the book, but I’ve heard it’s a beloved story by many. I know Spielberg (in my completely unbiased and neutral opinion *cough*) will do a phenomenal job with the adaptation. But the talent behind this film is amazing. Steven Spielberg as director is really all anyone needs to know, but there are so many top names involved with this film. Top. Names. Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall, Janusz Kaminski, Michael Kahn. John Williams returns to work with his friend after not composing for “Bridge of Spies,” and I am as giddy as a schoolgirl. Academy Award winning actor (for Bridge of Spies) Mark Rylance plays the title role.
And last, but certainly not least, the late Melissa Mathison penned the script. She and Spielberg collaborated on “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial,” so I have a good feeling about this film.
So check out the trailer. “The BFG” opens in theaters on July 1.
