This evening Bill Murray spent some time on reddit answering the many questions of his loyal fans. Why reddit? Why now?
I’m Bill Murray.
If you don’t know me, you probably know one of my brothers or sisters.
I’m doing this AMA on behalf of Monuments Men, which is in theaters on February 7 (http://www.monumentsmenmovie.com/site/). Victoria from reddit is helping me as well.
He covers some urban legends, “Groundhog Day”, the legalization of marijuana, and why “Garfield” sucked so bad. It is my opinion that Bill Murray is the most important comedic voice of an entire generation. Take a look at what he’s done in his life and how much the comedians and frat pack movies of today borrow from him.
This A.M.A. is pure gold. There are plenty of long insightful replies to a multitude of questions. Some of my favorites were:
Janet_Coquette: What is it like being so awesome?
Bill Murray: Well, nothing prepared me for being this awesome. It’s kind of a shock. It’s kind of a shock to wake up every morning and be bathed in this purple light.
Will there be a “Garfield 3”?
Bill Murray: I don’t think so. I had a hilarious experience with Garfield. I only read a few pages of it, and I kind of wanted to do a cartoon movie, because I had looked at the screenplay and it said “Joel Cohen” on it. And I wasn’t thinking clearly, but it was spelled Cohen, not Coen.
Head on over to reddit to read the rest of his wonderful answers.
