Saturday, April 1st, DisneyXD and Marvel TV will premiere Ultimate Spider-Man, an “ultimate” cartoon version of our friendly-neighborhood webslinger. Color me excited, since this will be paired with one of the best cartoons ever, Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

I caught a sneak peek of this at SXSW this weekend, and it looks amazing. While I have to hold my official review until April 1st, let me give you some highlights:
This is not Ultimate Spider-Man like the Ultimate comics. There’s some twists.
However, Ultimate Spidey scribe Brian Michael Bendis is helping on the show– part of what head of Marvel TV Jeph Loeb referred to in their panel as “the Murderer’s Row of animation.” This includes animation giants Paul Dini and “Man of Action”– the team behind Ben 10 and Generator Rex. I think you can see a lot of their influence in the USM trailer above.
It’s so good, it makes me less excited for Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. And that’s saying something.
