REVIEW: Undeleted Scenes

 Undeleted Scenes cover

Undeleted Scenes is a wonderful anthology introduction to Jeffrey Brown. This collection contains stories from the previous collections Minisulk, Every Girl Is the End of the World for Me, and Feeble Attempts, as well as rare work and some never published before.

Brown jumps from childhood stories to what was going on in his life during 9/11, as well as his relationships as an adult, including having a child of his own. I love his autobiographical style. Each story snippet is just a few pages at most, generally just one page and fit into their own continuity. Very easy to jump and out of, although you won’t want to put it down.

This collection also contains a fan favorite mini-comic Be A Man (Above). After getting grief for his “unmanly” attitude in his first TopShelf book Clumsy, he released this mini-comic of how he should have reacted to the situations in Clumsy.

Undeleted Scenes is highly recommended for those that haven’t read any of Jeffrey Brown’s books before. You get a sample from a good majority of his autobiographical books, and an overview of his life up until this point.
