This comic book is so bad it made my anus bleed……..and I’m a robot! –Slugtron
I don’t know why I keep reading these, they always seem to make me mad.
I hate how Robin is written. I miss the good old days, when I was reading a “Robin” comic I actually felt empathetic to his love triangles and was afraid of what might happen to him in a fight, always questioning his ability. You know, keeping his secret from his dad, and trying to impress Bruce.
With Fabian Nicieza writing, even his inner monologue doesn’t bring me any closer to the character. It’s like he wants people to read his book and constantly say out loud, “Robin’s bad ass!” But I don’t read Robin for a story about a bad ass, that’s why I read Batman. I want someone that is trying their hardest to be bad ass, and thinks they’re a bad ass, but is actually just an annoying twerp that is in way over their head.
I don’t care about Zoanne and Tim, and at the rate of Spoiler being in the book two pages a month, (the last two issues, he runs into her at school for a page, and then she gets the last page of the book for a lame cliff hanger) I really don’t care about her either.
This book seems so phoned in. I don’t know who would want to write a series where it feels like nothing can change. It also feels like Fabian is hung up on two ideas that he can’t make anyone else care about. I don’t care about Red Robin unless you do something with him. And Spoiler doing stuff behind Tim’s back is lame, Spoiler should have actual interaction with Tim to create drama. They teach this stuff at your first day of writing school. “Don’t avoid confrontation, give the readers what they want, people avoiding interaction is boring.”
