Review: Robin #174: Spoiler Alert!

Last month I was talking about how the Spoiler was back in Robin continuity. Well folks, this month in Robin #174, they explained how. While I admit that I would have accepted any reason to bring one of my favorite characters back, the one they came up with is fairly good.

It was a trick! Leslie Thompkins didn’t really betray 25 years of continuity and kill Stephanie Brown! She had a dead body double! Dr. Thompkins rigged up the whole “fake Stephanie death” to take her with her to Africa under an assumed name so that she could be safe from life behind a mask. Obviously she got home sick and came back to Gotham.

Alright, maybe that is a little lame, but I can’t wait to read the next issue, which is a Batman R.I.P. crossover. And the way things are shaping, it looks as though Bruce is going to disappear for a time and Tim will be left to defend Gotham as the Dark Knight with the aid of his girlfriend, back-from the dead, Spoiler. (It looks like Stephanie’s father, Arthur Brown, A.K.A. The Cluemaster, will be back soon as well.)

It’s good to see DC correcting itself when they realize they’ve made a mistake.

Now let’s get Spoiler her own book.  Also give Batgirl hers back, and forget everything that happened with her being evil and crazy, because that was lame.
