Ghostopolis is Doug TenNapel’s latest creation, released on Wednesday. I’m a big fan of TenNapel’s work, from Earthworm Jim to Monster Zoo. Overall, I think any of his books can be read and enjoyed. That’s not to say some aren’t better than others. To this day, I think it’s safe to say Creature Tech is my favorite of his books… and I’d probably say Ghostopolis has taken second.

Frank Gallows works for the Supernatural Immigration Task Force making it his job to deport ghosts to the afterlife. After accidentally deporting Garth Hale to Ghostopolis, Frank has to cross over, find Garth, and try to come back to Earth.

The rich characters in this book is one of the reasons its my number two TenNapel book. It seems as though most of them are looking for redemption in one form or another. Whether that’s for the mistakes they’ve made in their own life, or those of their father.

I really did love this book, and I think its a great read for just about anyone. Unlike his previous books, Scholastic is publishing Ghostopolis. This is a huge benefit for two reasons: the book is in full color, and its only $12.99.

And in related news, this is yet another of TenNapel’s books to be purchased for a movie. Supposedly starring Hugh Jackman (according to SciFi Wire). This makes for a total of four books being turned into movies. Talk about the Midas touch.
