Black Science hits shelves from Image Comics today, and if it isn’t on your buy list you’re doing it wrong. Rick Remender (story), Matteo Scalera (art), and Dean White (color), have created a beautiful world where Grant has discovered what he calls “black science” that has destroyed his family. The story reminds of me of “Lost in Space” meets “Land of the Lost”, with a touch of Remenders incredible imagination.
The creatures and world are so vibrant, that the story just tells you why you’re looking at such incredible feats.
This book is an absolutely gorgeous sci-fi thriller putting our group of stranded travelers against fish people riding snakes, frogs with electric tongues, and an even more twisted enemy further on. This first book is just an introduction to the series, but it has all the makings as a must-read comic. If anything the beautiful art alone is worth staring at for days. The vibrant color looks as if you’re reading from oil painted page to oil painted page.

I am far from an art guy, in fact I’m really a guy who digs story and interaction, but this comic is something you shouldn’t pass up visually. This bundled with incredible story and dark, brooding characters is sure to take us further down the road.
This book is a must buy, It’s been said a few times in this review. That means if you miss out it’s on you. Here is a preview page, just in case you don’ t believe me.
