I wrote this and sent it to Kirkman a few months ago. it didn’t get published. Kirkman might be a coward.
Kirkman,
I am writing this letter because I have been reading Invincible since the beginning and I like it. But it seems that you are not trying as hard as you had in the past. It used to be that at the end of every issue there was an awesome surprising cliff hanger ending, and I would exclaim “KIRKMAN!!!!”
Recently this has not been the case.
Marks brother being able to fly? This was not surprising, this was inevitable.
Nolan saying that he misses his wife? Well I miss good Robert Kirkman endings.
Atom Eve asking Mark where there relationship stood? I would never have guessed she would ask that.
Truly it must have taken you weeks to plot that one out.
This is usually the part of the letter where I would define the word sarcasm, but instead how about I give you your next big cliff hanger with the way things are going.
Maybe Mark can find out he is a Viltrumite? Or maybe Mark’s mom can walk outside to drive to the store, but there is a boot on her car! How did she get the boot? Did she get a ticket as well? Do you see all the questions this raises? Let them sit on that for 31 days.
I am not saying the book is bad, in fact I love it. I’m just asking. Are you still putting as much effort into this book as you had been? This is not the New Avengers Military Special, this is Invincible and probably the best superhero comic book in the universe. Also if it is at all possible can you try to keep it to no more than one or two filler issues per arc? It would mean a lot to me.
Seriously though, you’re all right, the book is great. Maybe some surprise endings?
