Today it was announced that Peter Sarsgaard is in negotiations to play the villain in the Green Lantern movie. Sarsgaard will play Hector Hammond, the pathological son of a senator who is a disappointment to his father. He gains powers after discovering a meteor. In the comics his powers include a genius level intellect, mind control, telepathy, and telekinesis.
Sarsgaard will be joining Ryan Reynolds and the recently cast Blake Lively in this eagerly anticipated movie slated to be released June 17th, 2011.
