Going to Star Wars Celebration? Pick up a Mimobot

Mimoco is a company that makes some of the most useful and collectible licensed knick-knacks in the world that I use on a daily basis. They manufacture 2 through 16gb flash drives in original designer designs and with licenses like Hello Kitty, Halo and (my favorite) Star Wars.

It’s great to see licensed products at a reasonable price that actually have a use. I don’t know how many times I shop for geek merchandise and think to myself, “But what the hell would I do with that?”

I use flash drives on a daily basis and I love Star Wars, so it made it a lot easier for me to justify purchasing more than a couple of these guys. I’m always in need of one and I’m way less apt to lose them if they have Star Wars characters on them.  They’re reliable, sturdy and have worked in every device I’ve plugged them into.  Since then, Mimoco has been really great, sponsoring prizes for the weekly Big Shiny Robot/Geek Show pub quiz, but I got a chance to meet up with them at Comic-Con and ask them a few questions.

Debuting at Star Wars Celebration V this week (that I was able to preview in San Diego at the Comic-Con) is a new series of Mimobots in the Star Wars line with an emphasis on The Empire Strikes Back. Their convention exclusive is the Lobot mimobot, and is limited to 500 pieces at San Diego and 500 at Star Wars Celebration. Others in the series include Luke in his Hoth gear, the Wampa, Yoda, and a Snowtrooper.

The thing I was most excited to hear from Mimico is that conventions are their cheapest pricing. You can’t get Mimo-bot flash drives anywhere cheaper than at a con. They’re priced at up to 20% off of their retail prices and the staff running the booths are incredibly nice and accommodating.

That’s my big advice to those of you going to Celebration V this week. If you’ve been interested in picking up a Star Wars Mimo-bot, do it in Florida. You won’t regret it.
