Big Shiny Robot!, in coordination and partnership with the Salt Lake City Downtown Library is having a free screening of the classic animated Batman film “Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker.”
From the library’s blurb:
We will be showing the direct-to-video 2000 movie Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, which is based on the animated television series. Afterwards, a panel of comic book experts will discuss comics. For die-hard fans, we may have some limited edition artwork available for purchase before the event!
The film is set in the “continuity” of the animated series Batman Beyond, in which Bruce Wayne has retired from crime fighting, giving the mantle of Batman to high school student Terry McGinnis. As in the TV series, Will Friedle and Kevin Conroy star as Terry McGinnis and Bruce Wayne, respectively. Mark Hamill, who voiced the Joker in Batman: The Animated Series and The New Batman Adventures, reprises his role here.
Bryan Young, editor-in-chief of Big Shiny Robot! (geek news and reviews blog), will moderate the panel discussion. The members of the panel are:
· David Landa, Dr. Volt’s Comics
· Bryan Young, City Weekly / Big Shiny Robot!
· Greg Gage, Black Cat Comics
In addition, Bill Galvan (from Archie Comics, among others) will be joining the panel and has provided an exclusive print for this screening of the film. They’ll be available before hand for $15 and are in limited quantity.
It’s tonight, July 7th, 2014, and starts at 6:30 pm at the Salt Lake City Downtown Library.
We hope to see you there!
