It’s an Image comic heavy week but that’s just because their covers and panels were superb. We robots thought the new comic book written by Remender and drawn by Scalera from Image, Black Science, was terrific. It’s also the first cover in this week’s Five and Three.
Next up is the only non-Image book and it comes from IDW. The cover to Danger Girl #3 is so great, it’s like the gravy on the Image potatoes.
The cover to Morning Glories #35 is sublime. The colors that are created by the chapels’ stained glass windows are done here with the artistic skill of one of the greats.
Revival #15 is putting the pieces together to make one compelling cover. This is a book I know I need to catch up on but where do I find the time? It’s a good thing it is the weekend!
Pretty Deadly #2 is fantastic. The insides were everything issue 1 promised and more. The art got a little risqué, so it’s not a book for kids. But if the idea of a jilted daughter who is death incarnate was ever an idea for a kid friendly book, I’d be surprised. This mostly female cast of storytellers is making sure the rest of the world knows that’s not a big deal. Great storytellers tell great stories, and that’s all you really need to know.
The panels this week were hard to pick. From what I read in this heavy week, there were so many great moments to choose from. I had to wait long enough for the tryptophan to wear off enough for my fingers to work, but here are the panels for this week.
First up is a great scene from Avengers Arena #18. That story is sadly over, but it’s also just beginning. I like this scene because it sums up how I felt as a reader during this wild ride by Hopeless. I watched a huge explosion and looked on in shock. I followed up that shock with a “Really?” The ending was terrific and I didn’t see it coming, well, most of it.
Saga has been the book I look forward to the most. I think it’s because of the little family moments. This one had me laughing though, because I can totally relate to it myself.
The last one this week is Thor’s bad ass hammer Mjolnir slamming down on the Mad Titan so hard that Thor’s armor is being torn off of him. Infinity #6 closes out Infinity but you’ll need to pick up New Avengers 12 too.
That’s it for this week. It was a short one, but a fun one. I’ll see you next week, same bot time, same bot website. That is of course, as long as I survive Cyber Monday! For any tips you might have for me, tweet them to @MarkAvo.
