So Cataclysm is over and, contrary to popular belief, the Ultimate Universe didn’t end. The Ultimate U did suffer yet another “Earth shattering” change and several characters didn’t make it through to the end. Not everything has been revealed yet but we’ve got some pretty good hints handed to us from Marvel Comics with a sneak peek at the “All-New Ultimates” #1. From first look, it appears that we’ve no longer got an Iron Man, Captain America, Thor or Hawkeye on the team. The only member from the old Ultimates team is Spider-Woman who is the new Black Widow. Between her and Kitty Pride, the youngsters on this team are going to have some great leaders.
Over in “Ultimate Spider-Man” we’ve recently been introduced to the rest of the team. Ultimate Cloak and Ultimate Dagger are Ultimate Cloack & Dagger. Bombshell recently gave up her life of crime in the pages of Ultimate Spider-Man and now she’s a member of the Ultimates. Maybe she’ll be this teams version of a Hawkeye? The main title character of Ultimate Spider-Man rounds out the squad. Only time will tell if this reboot will be good for the Ultimate Universe but great story telling that pushes boundaries is what the Ultimate Universe has always been about.
