Lots of announcements from the comics companies at C2E2, held in Chicago this past weekend: X-Men: Battle of the Atom, Elfquest is coming to Dark Horse, and more!
The Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo was held this past weekend in the Windy City, and the big guns of the comic industry had plenty new titles and products to announce:
- Marvel will celebrate the 50th anniversary of X-Men with ‘Battle of the Atom’ in September, which will quickly cross over with All-New X-Men, Uncanny X-Men, Wolverine & the X-Men and X-Men, before finishing in the second issue of Battle of the Atom. Major Spoilers has more details on the comic itself, with part 1 written by Brian Michael Bendis, while Comic Book Resources chats with writers Jason Aaron, Brian Wood, and editor Nick Lowe about what to expect when the past, present, and future of the mutant team collide.
- Dark Horse Comics announced a slew of new stuff: Wendy & Richard Pini’s Elfquest is coming to the publisher in the fall for its 35th anniversary, with a new series: Elfquest: The Final Quest; plus Art Baltazar and Franco Aureliani of Ah Yeah comics are going to give their all-ages take on Hellboy with Itty Bitty Hellboy (and for those who prefer their Hellboy not being so cute and adorable, Mike Mignola and Duncan Fegredo are making a new tale of young Hellboy: The Midnight Circus).
- Major Spoilers also has a good summary of what DC Comics is coming out with later this year, in the worlds of the New 52 and more.
The Chicago Tribune has a set of anecdotes from the convention itself, focusing on the celebrities like Felicia Day and Burt Ward, costumes, and such.
