In an interview with DC All Access, Kevin Smith and Ralph Garman announced their work on a “Batman” and “Green Hornet” crossover. The project, titled “Batman ’66 Meets the Green Hornet” is based (obviously) on the Adam West live action “Batman” television series.
“Green Lantern” appeared briefly on the series despite not being a DC character and Smith/Garman will use those episodes as a jumping off point to tell their own story. In a quote given to USA Today, Smith said: “”It’s like getting to be 5 years old again and tell stories that you would have made up while watching the show as a kid. To be able to do it, man, it really does bring it full circle in a bucket-list kind of fashion.”
Smith’s love of the caped crusader is no secret to anyone who follows him, between parodying the character in the form of “Bluntman,” doing his weekly podcast “Fatman on Batman” and writing a couple of “Batman” books for DC he’s made it clear he has an affinity for the character. He’s also no stranger to “Green Hornet” having penned a series on the character for Dynamite Entertainment in 2010.
Smith and Garman will co-write the series and seemed excited to say the least, during their interview with DC All Access.
The series will be released bi-weekly as a DC digital first. Issue #1 will be available on Comixology May 21, and in print June 4, with art by Ty Templeton and cover art by Alex Ross.
