Being the first to the breakfast table didn’t always guarantee you get the coveted prize in the box. Most of the time it’ll be at the bottom of the box and your best bet is to sneak it out the night before with some stealth and a big mixing bowl. If you’re old enough to remember the day when the prize was tapped to the inside and was a crisp comic book full of your favorite super-heroes, then you remember a time when stealth, a mixing bowl, and the evening wasn’t good enough. You had to first convince mom to get the name brand cereal and then you had to open that box from the back seat of the station wagon while mom was busy with traffic. The book would get a turn with everyone else, but you just had to be the one to get your hands on Superman or Batman first. My friends, you were not alone and those times have returned again. I have the feeling that this time though, you may have your own children to compete with instead of young sibling(s).
DC Comics and General Mills have combined forces in an epic team-up to bring lovers of breakfast and super-hero’s a winning combination. Through the end of April boxes of General Mills cereal will contain one of four special Justice League comic books. Not only that, but they’re also teaming up for some good old fashioned fun by having everyone participate via social media for some #SUPERHEROING. How they’re doing that is by giving everyone a chance to be a super-hero with a cut-out mask found on the same boxes of cereal as the comics are in. That’s a win-win because you can read the comic to your kids and then later on you’ll be able to team up with them to fight against super-villains.
Target shoppers have the chance to get their hands on a special “bonus” issue that’s available in specially marked boxes of Cheerios. To be sure you don’t miss out, be on the look-out at all participating stores for boxes of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Honey Nut Cheerios, Trix, Lucky Charms, Cookie Crisp and Reese’s Puffs. Five issues of Justice League with your morning breakfast, but what cereal will you be eating? Sound off in the comments below or find us on Facebook and Twitter. What will the bots be eating? You go first!
