A big source of fan speculation has been Brandon Routh’s character of Ray Palmer on “Arrow.” The fans all know that Palmer is Atom in DC Comics lore, and after Palmer revealed his A.T.O.M. power suit, we knew that he’d be taking on a more heroic role. Today thanks to JoBlo, we got our first real look at the A.T.O.M. suit:
Do we like it? I mean, we know that the show’s designer Colleen Atwood, who’s garbed Arrow, Flash, Canary, and Arsenal wasn’t going to go the spandex, sky blue and bright red route. Is this a successful Atom costume with enough of the classic costume, or is it going too far into Iron Man territory? I like it…I’ll either like it a lot more or completely hate it once we see how it’s used in the series.
I really hope we get to see him shrink. I have a whole storyline concocted where he uses it as an enhanced strength power suit in Starling City, then goes over to Central City where he somehow something sciencey and the Dwarf Star Matter in his belt gets all shrinky and blah blah…they could make it work. It does still seem like the more fantastic parts of that particular hero would work better with “The Flash” than “Arrow,” but Brandon Routh’s Palmer is one of the real bright spots this season. Hopefully he’ll be sticking around, in superhero mode or not.
